Parent and Grandparent Super Visa

How to Bring Our Loved Ones to Canada

How to Bring Our Loved Ones to Canada

One of the most difficult aspects of being an immigrant is being separated from family. Parents who want to travel to see their children in a distant nation may encounter a slew of difficulties and inconveniences. One of these issues is the limited duration of the tourist visa’s validity period. In 2011, the Canadian government introduced legislation to make it simpler for citizens’ parents or grandparents to visit their children and grandchildren in Canada. The Canadian Parent and Grandparent Super Visa was created as a result of this legislation.

Parent and Grandparent Super Visa

When a child or grandchild becomes emotionally attached to their parent or grandparent, the Super Visa permits them to remain with them for up to six months or even more. In the category of tourist visas, a Canadian Parent and Grandparent Super Visa comes under the umbrella term “Super Visa.” This sort of Canadian visa offers a number of unique characteristics that might increase its attractiveness to prospective applicants.

Canadian Parent and Grandparent Super Visa Requirements

The Canadian Super Visa allows parents of Canadian residents to stay in Canada for up to 2 years. Parents will be able to even enjoy the benefits of a 10-year Canadian Super Visa, even after the passport expires, with a simple application without the need for fingerprinting. But who can apply for a Canadian Super Visa and qualify for it:

  • Parents (and grandparents) of Canadian citizens or permanent residents
  • Those who have official invitation from a child or grandchild living in Canada
  • Those who have the written evidence of health insurance payment by the inviter (oral statements are not enough)
  • Those who are not banned from entering Canada
  • Those who have immigration medical tests (approved by a trusted physician at the Canadian Embassy)
  • Translated identity card (For each parent)
  • Completed visa application form
  • Completed Family Information Form
  • 5 by 4.5 color passport-size photo with white background (Two copies are enough)
  • Translation of real estate documents
  • Proof of kinship with the Canadian resident and evidence of financial means

Invitation Letter and Medical Tests

The following characteristics of the invitation delivered to the Canadian Super Visa Applicant should be mentioned:

  • Applicant must guarantee to fund the guests while they stay in Canada
  • Applicant must list parent’s or grandparent’s names who will stay in Canada
  • Applicant must provide a copy of his or her citizenship or permanent residence card

Health insurance must also have the following features:

  • Be valid for at least one year from the date of arrival
  • Minimum coverage of $ 100,000

Parents and grandparents who are eligible for immigration are also needed to undergo an immigration medical examination. Additionally, the IRCC must be satisfied that these parents and grandparents are legitimate guests. They should choose to depart Canada at the conclusion of their term and should not be forced to remain in the country illegally.

According to CIC News, the IRCC will complete the processing of Super Visas in a matter of weeks. The processing periods for this Visa, on the other hand, may differ from one visa office to another.

Things to Do Before Parent and Grandparent Super Visa

All documents must be stamped by the official translation agency. After preparing all the documents and completing the necessary forms, scan them and send the receipt online at the Canadian Embassy. Once the application has been submitted and you have paid the required fees, a letter will be issued to the Visa Application Center. Fingerprinting is done in this centre. After submitting the application, you have 30 days to proceed with the fingerprinting steps.

By fingerprinting and registering the application, the case review process begins at the embassy. At this stage, which may take between two weeks to three months, you will receive a Tracking ID.

Using this code, you can track the status of your file through the embassy website. If the applicant’s application is accepted, he / she must go to the same centre where the fingerprinting was done with his / her passport and receive his / her visa. To obtain a visa, you must go to the centre in person or send someone who has power of attorney on your behalf.

  • Before submitting documents, be sure to prepare a detailed list of required documents through the embassy website or legal advisors
  • If the documents you submit are incomplete, your application will be rejected and your time and money will be wasted
  • During the interview, Canadian officers will check your motivation for the trip to make sure you intend to return home after the visit. Many requests are rejected at this stage. You must be able to prove to the relevant officer that you intend to return to your home country
  • If you are traveling with family, you should have a strong motivation to return. That is, there must be enough documents for the visa officer that you will return to your home country after the expiration date. Otherwise, your request will most likely be rejected

The cost of obtaining a Canadian Super Visa

The cost of a Canadian super visa is $ 300. Of that amount, $ 100 is for document review and $ 85 for Canadian Super Visa fingerprinting. If the Canadian Visa Officer needs a medical examination from a Canadian Super Visa applicant, the cost will be borne by the applicant.

Last Note

As a result of the increase of COVID cases throughout the nation, authorities are enforcing severe rules, lockdowns, quarantine zones, and night curfews in different regions and states around the country. As a consequence, there may be a delay in the pickup and drop-off of passports in comparison to the previously mentioned time.

We do, however, recommend that you prepare your envelope or item for pick-up as soon as possible after getting this notification. Please be prepared for a possible delay in the total stamping of your passport procedure. Please do not book your flights until you have received your passport.
